La Quinta Arts Foundation is thrilled to announce a new partnership with OperaArts to perform on Friday and Saturday, March 6th & 7th, 1:30pm at the #1 in the Nation ranked La Quinta Arts Festival.
Lori Ann Fuller-Sporano, Gregorio Gonzalez-Baritone and Christopher Campbell-Tenor will perform a program of select Opera, Operetta and Broadway favorites accompanied by Victoria Kirsch-pianist and OperaArts Music Director.
A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, soprano Lori Ann Fuller has performed in the United States and in Europe, with such companies as Los Angeles Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Repertory Opera, l’opera piccola, Portland Opera Repertory Theatre (ME), Pine Mountain Music Festival (MI), and Light Opera Works (IL). Ms. Fuller has been recognized by numerous vocal competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council, Palm Beach Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Mobile Opera, and Shreveport Opera. She won awards in the Bel Canto Competition in Chicago and was the recipient of the 2000 Lynne Harvey Award through the Chicago Musicians Club for Women. Ms. Fuller holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Stetson University and a Master of Music degree from DePaul University.
Placido Domingo selected Gregorio Gonzalez as a resident artist at the Los Angeles Opera in 2002, beginning his soloist operatic career. There Gonzalez created the roles of Count Obolenski and Avdeev in the world premier of Nicholas and Alexandra, under Mstislav Rostropovich and added his voice to more than a dozen additional acclaimed productions. Since then Gonzales has gone on to perform many leading roles throughout the US, Europe and his native Mexico. In addition, Gonzalez has won numerous competition awards and Foundation honors including The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Operalia World Singer Competition, and The Francisco Vinas Competition, among others.
Taking the stage with a long list of Opera companies throughout California, Christopher Campbell is a perennial favorite. Campbell is equally at home performing opera, oratorio and comedy at esteemed venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Royce Hall at UCLA.
Campbell is a graduate of OperaWorks the prestigious performance training program under the direction of Ann Baltz and studied under esteemed Metropolitan Opera stars Joan Sutherland and Maestro Richard Bonynge.
Pianist Victoria Kirsch creates and performs innovative programs throughout Southern California, including concerts based on museum exhibitions at the University of Southern California’s Fisher Museum. She has worked with national and regional opera companies (including Los Angeles, Cincinnati and Long Beach Operas) and has served as an official pianist for the Operalia Competition and the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions in Los Angeles.
Ms. Kirsch is the Music Director of OperaArts, (www.operartsplamsprings.org) a Coachella Valley nonprofit whose goal is to present quality musical performances, with emphasis on Opera and operetta, accompanied by high quality visual arts and art experiences, presenting its seventh year of programming in the Coachella Valley.
