“Pallino,” a beautiful, yet whimsical bronze sculpture by noted Colorado sculptor, James LaCasse, has been chosen as the Official Festival Poster for the 2008 La Quinta Arts Festival, it was announced by LQAF Executive Director, Christi Salamone.  The Festival will run from March 13th through the 16th at La Quinta Civic Center Campus.

“Many people view our Festival posters as collector items, so each year our poster artist is chosen very carefully,” said Salamone.  “The committee strives to select work that is reflective of the Festival itself. And this year, with James La Casse’s “Pallino” we feel we’ve done just that. His work captures the essence of individuality.” TLD Membership final

La Casse, who began sculpturing in the 1990’s after earning a degree in Economics from Milwaukee’s Marquette University, has turned himself into a major force in the field of sculpture and in that time has captured many honors and awards.

By combining fluid forms, negative space, an intense realism, and relying on the viewer’s ability to “fill in the blanks,” LaCasse creates a surreal effect of motion – and emotion – in all his limited-edition pieces.  His ever-expanding body of work draws upon diverse influences while shaping a unifying theme: the strength and the joy of the human spirit. It is this belief that strongly resonates in his work and in his approach toward three-dimensional representation.
