Christi Salamone, Executive Director of La Quinta Arts Festival was recently honored by the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB) for outstanding efforts to enhance the image of the Palm Springs region.
Each year the hospitality industry singles out the efforts of a local individual or organization that has made an extraordinary contribution during the past year to promote the Palm Springs area. This year the CVB chose to recognize the La Quinta Arts Festival – #1 Fine Art Festival in the nation and acknowledge the efforts of the La Quinta Arts Foundation staff and the city of La Quinta who have hosted this successful event for the past 30 years. Top sales numbers, along with the quality of the festival experience earned La Quinta a well-deserved number one national destination ranking last year.
This year’s La Quinta Arts Festival attracted more than 25,000 attendees to the four-day festival featuring 230 contemporary artists from 38 states and Canada. The success of the Festival has also generated more than $1 million over the years to support college scholarships for students pursuing degrees in the arts.
Arts and cultural organizations, institutions, and facilities have helped move the Palm Springs region to the forefront of the hospitality market. That’s important, of course, to those living here for the way the arts inform local lives and advance creativity and potential. But the growth of the arts and creative industry the region also parallels and propels growth and development, providing rich and rewarding cultural experiences which help define and promote the community and spur economic growth.
“By all measures, it was an outstanding year for the La Quinta Arts Festival,” said LQAF Executive Director Christi Salamone. “The diversity, quality and expertise of our artists and the unmatched outdoor setting consistently delivers a first class show and our staff and volunteers deliver a first class visitor experience.”
The 2014 La Quinta Arts Festival is scheduled for March 6- 9. For more information, go here.
