Barton DeGraaf (Bend, Oregon) has been painting his whole life.  Born in Chicago, he fell in love with art at the Art Institute of Chicago and received his BFA in 1999 from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, Colorado.

DeGraaf paints in watercolors and acrylics. He describes his style as whimsical and impressionistic. His happy work portrays the animal kingdom engaged in everyday “people” activities. DeGraaf combines playful elements to create something special, guaranteed to make you smile.

In honor of coinciding with the first weekend of the BNP Paribas Open this year, DeGraaf’s adorable image of a dog holding tennis balls in its mouth (‘Got Balls’) will be featured on the La Quinta Arts Festival commemorative men’s t-shirt.
