Ray Goren

11:00 am to 12:30 pm – Ray Goren & The Generation Blues Experience – At only 12 years old, Ray Goren is an American musical prodigy from Southern California who wails an axe, finesses a keyboard, and belts out songs like an old soul veteran bluesman.

Persuaded to let Goren sit-in on a set with Deacon Jones, (band leader for John Lee Hooker & Freddie King), Jones said: “It was love at first note,” and made Ray a band regular. Since his debut in 2009, the young phenom Ray Goren has played the Doheny, Monterey, and Chicago Blues Festivals (2012) and Detroit, Idyllwild, and Central Avenue Jazz Festivals (2011), to name a few.

Renowned music critic Howard Reich noted that: “No one rattles the place like Ray Goren’. He plays electric guitar — and sings — with a fluency, ease and depth of expression that defy easy explanation”. Chicago Tribune, August 2011.

Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers

1:00 to 2:30 pm – Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers – We can count on legendary harp man Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers to ‘bring it’ with their low-down Chicago grit, suave West Coast swing and jazz, and the rhythmic drive of the best early R&B and rock & roll.

Veterans, Rod and Honey Piazza and the Mighty Flyers have played literally thousands of gigs in every corner of the globe, recorded over a dozen highly acclaimed releases, won or been nominated for almost every major award and honor that can be bestowed upon a blues band.

June 2011 saw the release of Piazza’s 25th recording “Almighty Dollar” on Delta Groove Music, riding ten weeks on the Roots Music Report and four months on the Living Blues Radio Chart where the album hit #1 in July 2011.

Teresa James & The Rhythm Tramps

3:00 to 5:00 pm – Teresa James & The Rhythm Tramps – Headlining the event is Teresa James and her eclectic mix of musicians known as The Rhythm Tramps.  This well-oiled music machine has been featured at blues festivals around the country and throughout Europe, and has created a unique sound that is funky and greasy – where New Orleans bayou meets Texas boot kicking Blues and everyone has a good time.

Teresa James has performed live with Levon Helm, Delbert McClinton, Bonnie Raitt, Kirk Whalum, Marcia Ball, Tommy Castro, Al Anderson, Asleep at the Wheel, Lee Roy Parnell, and many others. With Teresa on keyboards & vocals, The Rhythm Tramps band features Billy Watts, guitar & vocals; Debra Dobkin, percussion & vocals; Herman Matthews, drums; Jerry Pererson, saxophones; and Terry Wilson, bass & vocals. The band has been a featured act the last seven years on Delbert McClinton’s Sandy Beaches Blues Cruise.  Their latest CD, “Come On Home” was released in August 2012.
