Art Under the Umbrellas Slated November 14th at Old Town La Quinta
La Quinta Arts Foundation will present its next edition of Art Under the Umbrellas on Saturday, November 14, 2015, 10 am to 4 pm, at Old Town La Quinta. Admission and parking are both free.
Over 80 Southern California artists will converge along the streets of Old Town La Quinta to set up their booths exhibiting newly created works including painting, glass, ceramic, jewelry, wood, sculpture, photography, fiber, and mixed media. Patrons will be entertained by the popular Steve Madaio Band throughout the day. Along with its many specialty boutiques, Old Town La Quinta offers a selection of first-rate restaurants to enjoy a leisurely lunch and cocktails.
Featured Artists at the November 14th event are both past La Quinta Festival exhibitors and first-time participants at Art Under the Umbrellas:
California Impressionist Delia Bradford is a plein-air painter from Carmel who uses the outdoors as her studio where the natural light provides inspiration. Bradford does not sketch before painting. She visualizes, absorbs the energy and mood of the movement, and then transfers them quickly to canvas.
South Lake Tahoe based photographer Dirk Yuricich has traveled to over 30 countries, capturing images of the landscapes, cultures, people, architecture, and foods of the lands he visits. Most of his photos are either artistic or photojournalistic in nature (rather than documentary or abstract) utilizing a broad spectrum of styles.
This popular series of one day art shows held on select Saturdays throughout the desert season continues on November 28th (Thanksgiving weekend). Show dates in 2016 are January 16 and 23, February 6 & 13, and March 19. Old Town La Quinta is located in the Village of La Quinta. Take Washington Street south. Go west on Calle Tampico for two blocks. Old Town La Quinta will be on the left-hand side.
Art Under the Umbrellas is produced by La Quinta Arts Foundation, now in its 34th season of non-profit service through which $1.2 million has been awarded in visual arts college scholarships. Visit LQAF.com for more information or call 760-564-1244.
